Premature ejaculation (PE)
The definition of premature ejaculation is ejaculation within 60 seconds of penetration on 90% of occasions.
With too much Hollywood on television the duration of intercourse is often exaggerated - the average being somewhere in the region of 4-11 minutes.
PE is usually a predominantly psychological event. Early ejaculation leads to low sexual self-esteem. This results in the next sexual encounter being approached with an understandable level of sexual anxiety almost inevitably resulting in early ejaculation. A vicious cycle of almost 'learned behaviour' develops.
If PE is becoming a major issue in your/your partner's sex life a single consultation with Dr Robert DeBoyer may help to solve your problems.
Treatment options will be discussed ranging from the classical Master's and Johnson treatments to local anaesthetic gels and agents to prolong the erection.
Once sexual self-esteem is restored and anxiety levels fall the pattern of behaviour perpetuating PE is often broken. This results in PE drifting into the background and sexual relationships improving as a result
